The record-breaking funds, which were generated through the 2023-2024 school year, will support local schools by enhancing academic programs, meeting technology needs, and funding extracurricular activities and athletics.

“At Gesa, we believe in the power of education to transform lives and communities. That’s why we are immensely proud to support our local schools through our Affinity Debit Card program,” said Brandon Allison, AVP of Training, Education and Community Outreach at Gesa Credit Union. “We are especially thankful for our members, as their participation has made this our most successful year yet in terms of contributions. Their continued support enables us to create opportunities and make a lasting impact on the lives of students and educators across Washington.”

Since 2015, Gesa has raised more than $1.8 million through its Affinity Debit Card Program for the 27 school districts it partners with. This is the first year that the credit union has been able to provide more than $380,000 in funds through the program, with some partners receiving upwards of $66,000 to support their students.

“Kennewick School District is incredibly proud of our partnership with Gesa Credit Union’s Affinity Card Program,” said Dr. Traci Pierce, Superintendent of Kennewick School District. “It has been inspiring to see the positive impact these contributions have had on our local high schools. Through these generous donations, we’ve been able to support student leadership and Career and Technical Education organizations. These learning experiences in career exploration and leadership are foundational in shaping the future leaders of our community.”

Every time a member swipes their Co-Branded Affinity Debit Card, Gesa makes a donation to that particular school district. These Co-Branded Affinity Debit Cards are available exclusively at Gesa Credit Union and are free to Gesa members with a checking account. There is no fee for members to switch their card to any of the school designs.
