Everett murder-suicide left thousands of commuters stuck on I-5

EVERETT—Everett Police Detectives are now investigating a murder-suicide that occurred Sunday afternoon that left two men dead and led to a short pursuit on I-5.

At approximately 1:05 p.m., September 22, Everett Police officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired at the Park View Apartments located on the 1100 block of W. Casino Road. When officers arrived, they located two victims—one deceased male and one female with non-life-threatening injuries. The female was transported to the hospital. 

Sources told FOX13 that the decease male was the boyfriend of, and the suspect was the ex-boyfriend of the injured female.

Witnesses identified the suspect and his vehicle and informed officers that he had fled. By 1:40 p.m., officers had located the suspect vehicle and began pursuit near 19th Ave. SE and El Capitan Way, following the suspect onto I-5 North. 

After a short pursuit, the suspect vehicle crashed, near milepost 190 on I-5. Initial indications show that uninvolved vehicles were involved in the crash.

Shortly after, officers heard gunshots coming from the suspect vehicle. Officers were eventually able to safely approach and determined that the suspect was deceased with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No shots were fired by law enforcement. 

I-5 Northbound and Southbound were closed initially and I-5 South re-opened shortly after. I-5 North had partial lane closures as officers investigated. The lane closures resulted in a three-mile backup on I-5 Northbound. All lanes reopened at about 9 p.m., Sunday evening.

  1. This is so insane! Mental health is such a major problem. Something has to be done. The many lives affected by this type of situation is sad to think about.

  2. We need to unite with the for thought of Love, that feeling of unconditional -im here and no matter what we us together build define faith hope ” UNCONDITIONAL UNDERSTANDING AND IM LISTENING!

    1. That was years ago. Looks at the damage that the plan demic did to this country and mental health issues are100 x’s worse then back then. Republicans are not to be blamed

  3. Some things happen that can’t be explained or have a clear reason. It’s a pretty devastating situation. Let’s not use other reasons outside of this to carry out why we think it happened. This is all f’d up and sad, what happened.
