Week three of football just wrapped up for Lynnwood and Meadowdale High School, and here is your rundown.
Lynnwood vs. Shorecrest High School, September 20
The Lynnwood Royals lost 48-8 at home to Shorecrest last Friday in a conference game. The loss drops Lynnwood to 0-3 on the season.
On offense, Kevin Sandhu started his first game as quarterback, and Lukman Bendawi scored a touchdown for the Royals.
“I am proud of the team’s improvement from week one to week three. I’m proud of this coaching staff and team, and I’m confident they will continue to grow throughout the rest of the season,” said Lynnwood High School Athletic Director Andrew Prichard.

The Royals will look for their first win on Friday as they prepare to travel to take on Shorewood at Shoreline Stadium, which is 2-1 on the season after losing to Monroe last weekend. Game starts 5 p.m.
Meadowdale High School Football
Meadowdale vs. Mountlake Terrace High School, September 20
The Meadowdale Mavericks fell 27-14 to Mountlake Terrace last Friday. Sophomore running back Cayden Rivera had nine rushes for 50 yards and a touchdown, while Zekiah Gamble had four carries for 12 yards and completed 9 of 15 passes for 82 yards.
The loss takes Meadowdale to 0-3 on the year.
“It was a hard-fought, evenly balanced game against Mountlake Terrace. We came out strong in the first half and found our stride defensively, especially schematically,” said Meadowdale Head Coach Antwione Gamble. “We managed to force Mountlake Terrace into third and fourth and long situations multiple times, but unfortunately, we struggled to convert, forcing them to punt or resulting in a turnover on downs. They capitalized on those opportunities all night, which was deflating for our defense,” he continued in a statement to the Lynnwood Times.

Meadowdale’s next game will be against Edmonds-Woodway, a matchup the Mavericks eagerly anticipate. Edmonds-Woodway enters the game with 1-2 overall record and a 0-1 conference record. The game starts at 7 p.m. at Meadowdale High School.
“This week is huge for us as we face Edmonds-Woodway in the Edmonds School District rivalry game, famously dubbed ‘Jam the Stands.’ It’s a significant moment, as this will be the first time any player from either program has competed against one another in football. Between the missed seasons due to COVID and our previous alignment in the Polk League, our schedules never crossed,” said Gamble.
“With both Meadowdale and Edmonds-Woodway under new head coaching leadership, there’s a strong drive from both programs to establish ourselves within the district and in the league. The pressure is definitely on to perform, and we’re excited for the challenge,” Gamble added.
