2024 General Election polling times by state

With the first polls closing in Indiana and Kentucky less than 26 hours away, below is a map by 270towin.com to know when to begin expecting election results around the United States by polling times for each state. For the map below, all times reflect Eastern time zones, to convert to Pacific time, subtract three hours—e.g. 6 p.m. EST is 3 p.m. PST.

Below is a breakdown for each state:

In 2022 Mid-term Elections, Republicans not only took control of the House of Representatives with 222 seats (gain of 10 seats) and the party also won the popular vote with 54,227,992 votes (a gain of 2.8%). In the same election, the Democratic Party lost 7 seats with 51,280,463 votes.

The biennial election for representatives from all 435 Congressional Districts will take place on November 5, 2024. Winners will be sworn in to serve in the 119th Congress in early January, 2025. The Republican Party currently controls the U.S. House, where 218 seats are needed for a majority (when there are no vacancies). The Map represents the current consensus based on recent polling.

In 2022 Mid-term Elections, Democrats took control of the Senate with 49 seats (gain of 1 seat) and the party also won the popular vote with 46,208,845 votes; whereas the Republicans lost a seat to hold 49 seats with 43,850,241votes. The Democratic Party currently holds 51 seats, giving them the majority.

The U.S. Senate has 51 Democrats (including four independents) and 49 Republicans. There are 34 seats up in 2024 – including a special election in Nebraska – of which 23 are held by Democrats or Independents. Republicans can retake control with a net gain of two seats or by winning the 2024 presidential election along with a net gain of one seat. The Map represents the current consensus based on recent polling.
