Public’s Help Needed in Active Animal Cruelty Investigation

EVERETT—Snohomish County Animal Services is leading an investigation into an animal cruelty and abandonment incident which took place under the US Highway 2 Trestle going westbound near 51st Ave SE and Home Acres Road.

At approximately 11:20 a.m. on Friday, February 21, Snohomish County Animal Control Officers responded to a 911 call regarding four newborn kittens found in a garbage bag and abandoned under the westbound side of the US Highway 2 Trestle. The surviving kittens were quickly transported to the Everett Animal Shelter for immediate medical treatment and evaluation.

As of now, Snohomish County Animal Services has no leads in the investigation and is seeking the public’s assistance in gathering any relevant information related to the abandonment of the animals.

Anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity on the morning of Friday, February 21, or has video footage that could help identify those responsible is encouraged to contact Snohomish County Animal Services at 425-388-3440 or animalservices@snoco.org.

Snohomish County Animal Control Officers respond to the following complaints associated with dogs, cats and livestock. 

  • Dangerous dogs
  • Animal welfare or cruelty
  • Dog bites or attacks
  • Stray and abandoned animals
  • Sick or injured animals
  • Livestock at large
  • Leash law violations
