BOTHELL—A 14-year-old boy from Bellevue died from his injuries when his vehicle struck the guardrail while traveling on I-405 northbound early Saturday morning. Three passengers—all teenagers between the ages from 14 to 15—in the vehicle were transported to Evergreen Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 1:50 a.m. Saturday morning, Washington State Patrol responded to a collision just north of Mile Point 26 on I-405 (just south of 228 St SE in Bothell). The 2013 Honda CR-V was traveling northbound on I-405 when it left the roadway veering right striking the guardrail and coming to rest down an embankment. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
The vehicle was being driven by a 14-year-old male who was pronounced dead at the scene. Two of the injured teens were not wearing a seatbelt. Three teens were from Bellevue, and one was an Everett resident.
In the state of Washington, the legal age for a driver’s permit s 15 and 16 for a license. The fatal accident is under investigation, and it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved.
Lanes on I-405 were closed until 5 a.m. Saturday morning.
