EVERETT—Approximately 250 people attended the 21st Legislative District Townhall on March 15 hosted by Senator Marko Liias (D), and Representatives Lilian Ortiz-Self (D) and Strom Petersen (D). There were no freeform questions taken from attendees as all questions from attendees were filtered through its moderator Teresa Wippel of My Neighborhood News Network, a vocal supporter of Senate Bill 5400, a bill to provide government grants to local news outlets that is sponsored by Senator Marko Liias, one of the panelists.

Questions centered on possible impacts to the Trump administration’s budget cuts, education, affordability, rental caps, Parental Rights Bill, state budget constraints, increase taxes to reduce the projected $15 billion budget deficit, gas taxes, food insecurity, densification, abortion, and immigration and sanctuary policy in Washington state.
