Project underway to reopen Mother Nature’s Window to public

MARYSVILLE—Construction is underway to reestablish public access to a ruggedly beautiful nature park in north Marysville long closed to the public. Mother Nature’s Window, a 34-acre park featuring second growth forest, was privately owned until 1999, when Snohomish County acquired the property that was later annexed into the City of Marysville. The park is located off of 55th Avenue NE south of 100th Street.

The city will reopen public access by creating light recreation and environmental education opportunities while preserving the park’s natural setting and improving the city’s ability to monitor and maintain it. Project elements include a new driveway and parking lot, sidewalks, stormwater management, lighting, trail improvements, landscaping, irrigation, signage and site furnishings.

The city’s contractor, Matia Contractors, Inc., is scheduled to complete this work in December 2025. About half of the $1.47 million construction budget is funded by a $750,000 federal HUD grant, with the remainder funded by the city.

Look for a public opening in the spring of 2026.

Future improvements are planned but funding has not yet been secured for future phases.
