DOC and law enforcement searching for individual who escaped at SeaTac Airport

The Department of Corrections and local law enforcement are looking for John Nino. The 20-year-old, who is 6 feet 2 inches and weighs 154 pounds, escaped while being transported through Seattle-Tacoma International Airport shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Nino was wearing a red coat and grey sweatpants. Officers last saw him crossing the railroad tracks and heading towards Highway 99.

If you see Nino, do not approach him. Please call 911.

Nino was on community supervision for second degree robbery. DOC issued a warrant for him in June after he failed to report for meetings with his community corrections officer. He was arrested several days ago in New Mexico and was being returned to DOC custody in Washington when he escaped Tuesday evening.

Editor’s Note, August 18, 2025: John Nino was taken into custody in Tacoma shortly after 4 p.m. on August 13. He was a passenger in a car that investigators spotted at 3:40 p.m. in King County. They followed the vehicle to Tacoma and were able to arrest him without incident. The ATF and King County Sheriff’s Office assisted DOC’s Community Response Unit with the investigation and arrest.
