WASHINGTON, D.C.—From the Oval Office, President Donald J Trump flanked by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Alabama lawmakers, on Tuesday announced that his administration is relocating the U.S. Space Force Command from Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Huntsville, Alabama.
This move will save taxpayers $480 million said U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL). Huntsville is home to the 40,000-personnel U.S. Army base Redstone Arsenal—future home of Space Force—which hosts over 75 agencies including the FBI, DOJ, NASA, and DoD. Private space companies Blue Origin and SpaceX are also in Huntsville.
Besides the DoD assessments recommending the move to Huntsville, the deciding factor in his latest decision was the fact that Colorado allows mail-in-voting Trump said adding, “When a state is for mail-in-voting, that means they want dishonest elections.”
President Trump announced on August 18 that he will be signing an executive order to “get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS,” calling the mail-in voting system a “scam” that facilitates voter fraud.
In response to Trump’s announcement to move Space Force out of his state, Colorado Governor Jared Polis wrote in a statement:
“This is the wrong decision, diminishing military readiness and national security and eroding the trust Americans have in our country and its leaders to do the right thing. Uprooting Space Command will weaken national security and readiness, waste taxpayer dollars, and inconvenience military families. Colorado Springs is home to a proud military community and a thriving aerospace ecosystem, and significant national security missions and units, all of which are critical to U.S. Space Command. Coloradans and Americans should all be provided full transparency and the full details of this poor decision. We hope other vital military units and missions are retained and expanded in Colorado Springs. Colorado remains an ideal location for future missions, including Golden Dome.”
Colorado is home to the U.S. Northern Command/North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), National Space Defense Center, and the Space Domain Awareness Lab.
