Lynnwood needs accountable Leadership: Why George Hurst is the Right Choice

Lynnwood is at a crossroads. With major budget challenges, a troubling pattern of leadership failures at City Hall, and scandals making Lynnwood the laughingstock of the state, voters deserve a mayor who will restore accountability, transparency, and trust. That leader is George Hurst.

Under Christine Frizzell’s leadership, Lynnwood’s budget has veered off course now with a $11 million deficit. Rising expenditures, questionable priorities, and a lack of fiscal discipline have left the city facing difficult choices that could have been avoided with stronger oversight. Instead of protecting taxpayers and ensuring long-term stability, Frizzell’s administration has allowed spending to balloon without a clear plan for sustainability.

George Hurst has consistently been a voice for fiscal responsibility. He has pushed for budgets that prioritize essential services—public safety, infrastructure, and community programs—while demanding transparency in how every dollar is spent. Lynnwood families work hard to balance their household budgets; they deserve a mayor who will do the same for their city.

It’s not just the numbers that tell the story. Several respected department directors have left City Hall, citing frustration with Christine’s leadership style and decision-making. These departures are more than personnel changes—they are a warning sign of deeper dysfunction. When experienced leaders walk away, it destabilizes city operations and undermines public confidence.

George Hurst offers a different approach: collaborative, steady, and accountable leadership. He values the expertise of city staff and understands that effective governance requires teamwork, not top-down mismanagement. With Hurst as mayor, Lynnwood can rebuild a culture of respect and professionalism at City Hall.

Christine failed to call for an investigation into Josh Binda allegedly lying about his residency after providing a false address to her and the council.

The contrast could not be clearer. Christine’s tenure has been marked by budget instability, international scandals, and leadership turnover. George Hurst brings a proven record of fiscal prudence, community engagement, and a commitment to putting residents first.

Lynnwood deserves a mayor who will restore trust, protect taxpayer dollars, and lead with integrity. That’s why this election, I am voting for George Hurst as mayor, and I encourage you too as well.

  1. There couldn’t be a worse choice. This guy is in part responsible for the failed community center costing millions. His cronies that left on their own volition don’t help his cause. He’s part of a failed council that accomplished nothing. Decker is the only professional with any intelligence and morality on the dais. I’m happy for the finance director holding onto their job. Keep running the city into ruins. Similar Private sector performance gets a person terminated. Luckily, as you can see by the lack of any Lynwood commentary nobody cares. Lynnwood has the vibrancy of North Korea or any formerly Eastern bloc nation like East Germany and is summarily avoided by most.
