SANTA CLARA, CA—The Seattle Seahawks got their revenge against the New England Patriots Sunday, February 8, securing their second ever Super Bowl championship title.

Last time the Seahawks played in the Super Bowl (in 2015) they lost to the New England Patriots 24-28, following a controversial play by then-Quarterback Russell Wilson to throw the ball in the redzone instead of handing to Running Back Marshawn “Beastmode” Lynch.
If the New England Patriots had won the game on Sunday they would have added a seventh Super Bowl victory, placing them ahead as having the most championships ever of any NFL team. They almost made a different Super Bowl history, however, by not scoring any points until the fourth quarter – nearly evading the Super Bowl’s first ever shutout.
Seattle’s defense dominated all game, sacking New England Quarterback Drake Maye a total of six times and forcing three turnovers.
Seattle Kicker Jason Myers also set a Super Bowl record by kicking a total of five field goals.
With 135 yards and 27 carries, Seattle Running Back Kenneth Walker III was named the game’s MVP.
The game began with a successful field goal attempt by the Hawks, giving them an immediate lead over New England 3-0.
The Hawks kicked another field goal in the beginning of the second to bring the score up to 6-0. With just 20 seconds left on the clock, Seattle kicked another field goal to enter the second half trailing 9-0.
After another field goal in the third (Seattle now at 12-0), Seattle Quarterback Sam Darnold found AJ Barner with a 16-yard pass into the endzone for the game’s first touchdown, Seattle now leading 19-0.
The New England Patriots, however, returned with a touchdown of their own putting points on the board for the first time all game. With another field goal by the Hawks this put the score at 22-7.
Despite New England being able to score two field goals throughout the fourth, a fumble by Maye led to a turnover leading to a touchdown by the Hawks. The final score was 29-13.
Sunday, February 8, 2026 was the Seattle Seahawks fourth trip to the Super Bowl. Their most recent visit was in Super Bowl XLIX, in 2015, where they also faced off against the New England Patriots (at the time led by seven-time Super Bowl champ Tom Brady). New England ended up winning the championship game, 28-24, with a come-from-behind victory stemming from a controversial passing play by then-Quarterback Russell Wilson, in the red zone, instead of passing it to Running Back Marshawn “Beastmode” Lynch.
The Seattle Seahawks were defending Super Bowl champions that year, following a landslide victory against the Peyton Manning-led Denver Broncos, 43-8, in 2014.
The Hawks spent the next decade rebuilding their team, trading Quarterback Russel Wilson for high draft picks – securing veteran QB Sam Darnold, as well as adding key defensive additions including Leonard Williams and DeMarcus Lawrence.
In January 10, 2024, head coach Pete Carrol ended his 14-season tenure, transitioning to an advisory role. Mike Macdonald replaced Carroll as head coach, who was previously the Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator.
The Seattle Seahawks had a strong performance through its 50th season in the National Football League (NFL), culminating with a blowout Divisional Round against NFC West rivals the San Francisco 49ers, 41-6, and a victory of the Los Angeles Rams, 31-27, to win their ticket to the Super Bowl.
Washington elected officials react
“Super Bowl champions! Congratulations to the Seahawks on an unforgettable win. Best NFL franchise, best fans, best players, best coaches. What a special moment,” Washington Governor Bob Ferguson took to social media to say.
Governor Ferguson had made a friendly bet on the game with Massachusetts Governor Maura Healy for New England clam chowder, Dunkin Donuts, and lobster.
Washington Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) won a bet of her own, wagering with Morning Joe host Jonathan Lemire that, if the Hawks won, she could interview him.
Senator Cantwell, like Governor Ferguson, also bet with Sen. Edward Markey (D-MA) for New England beer and seafood.
“The Dark Side and KWIII didn’t just dominate — they straight up took over the game. Unreal effort all around from Seahawks legends and every Twelve around the world who made history tonight. Congratulations Seahawks and 12s,” said Sen. Cantwell.
Cantwell has literally taken her love for the Seattle Seahawks to the edge of the world, flying the 12 flag proudly while in Antarctica for a congressional delegation.
“Congrats to the Seahawks on a great game last night!! Super Bowl LX Champs!! Who is going to Wednesday’s parade,” said Representative Rick Larsen (WA-02).
Will there be a parade and ceremony?
Up to one million people are expected to show their pride for the Seattle Seahawks during a ceremonious parade on Wednesday, February 11, that will run from 4th Avenue South and Washington Street, travel along 4th avenue, and end on Cedar Street.

The parade is set to begin at 11 a.m. and take approximately two hours. Before the parade, the ceremonious presentation of the Lombardi Trophy will be held at Lumen Field. While this ceremony is open to the public it does require a ticket. Tickets went on sale today, Monday, February 9, but sold out within the first 20-minutes.
