ARLINGTON—Thanks to full funding from community and regional partners, the City of Arlington is excited to announce a new bicycle pump track will be built at Jensen Park.

The City’s Parks and Recreation Commission had identified a bicycle park as part of Arlington’s long-term parks planning. When the pump track concept was presented, the Arlington Rotary took the lead in turning the idea into reality, launching a major fundraising effort through its Duck Dash event.

A bike pump track is a looping course made up of small hills (rollers) and banked turns (berms). It’s designed so riders can maintain speed by “pumping” their bike, shifting body weight up and down, often with little or no pedaling. Pump tracks are popular because they support skill-building and recreation for a range of ages and experience levels.

This project is fully funded through the combined support of several key partners. Arlington Rotary is the lead contributor, raising funds in the past couple of years through their Duck Dash ticket sales. Rotary has been a longtime supporter of Arlington’s park improvement projects, and their leadership and investment have been central to moving this project forward.

Snohomish County, Amazon, and the Stillaguamish Tribe made substantial donations to enable this major park project to be completed this spring.

The City appreciates the support of County Councilmember Nate Nehring for helping advance this project through the Snohomish Council Partnership Program, that aims to increase recreational opportunities for county residents.

Amazon shared that they value the opportunity to be part of the project.

“We’re honored to support this project and the opportunity it creates for community members of all ages to stay active and healthy,” said Dean Allsopp, community engagement manager, Amazon. “Amazon is committed to being a good neighbor in Arlington, and we’re grateful to partner with the City, Arlington Rotary, Snohomish County, and the Stillaguamish Tribe to bring this pump track to life!”

This month, the Stillaguamish Tribe pledged a significant amount toward the pump track construction. This additional support has made it possible to include a small child riding area in the plan, expanding access for younger riders and families. The City sincerely appreciates its partnership with the Stillaguamish Tribe.

The City has contracted with American Ramp Company (ARC) to build a 14,000-square-foot Velosolutions asphalt pump track at Jensen Park. ARC worked closely with the Arlington Rotary Club to design a course for all skill levels, including a dedicated beginner track and advanced features such as a wall ride and progressive transfer options. Construction is expected to begin in June, with a projected grand opening on July 20, and will be completed in time for International Mountain Biking Day on July 20th.

More details, including construction updates and grand opening information, will be shared as the project progresses.
