EDMONDS—Edmonds Bookshop is happy to announce their participation in the 13th Anniversary of Independent Bookstore Day!

They will also be participating in the Seattle Independent Bookstore Day Passport Challenge, a fun event for local book (and bookstore) lovers to visit all 33 participating Seattle-area independent bookstores beginning on Saturday, April 25th.  Passports can be picked up at any participating bookstore starting on April 25th, and participants will have ten days to complete the challenge, until Monday, May 4.  Edmonds Bookshop is one of two participating bookstores here in Edmonds, along with East West Books and Gifts on 3rd Avenue.

On Saturday, April 25th Edmonds Bookshop will have authors Marissa Pederson and  Noelle Salazar signing books at 10:00 am when the doors open.  Marissa Pederson is author of the Moon Guide to Washington State, and Noelle Salazar will be signing her latest book, a romantic comedy entitled The Meet Poop.  From 11:00, to 1:00 pm, community partners Silent Book Club Edmonds and Edmonds Pride will be here to celebrate with us and spread the word about what they are doing.  In the afternoon, local artist Sue Coccia will have a pop-up sale and art demonstration here in the store from 1:00-4:00 pm. Edmonds-based Cookie Box Gluten Free Bakery will have a pop-up starting at 3:00 pm, for everyone to get a sweet treat to take on their IBD passport travels!  The store will have extended hours on Saturday, 4/25 from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm and Sunday 4/26 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Independent Bookstore Day (Indie Bookstore Day) was established in 2013 to promote, celebrate, and highlight the value of the independent bookstore community. The day has been observed on the last Saturday of April every year since 2013. This year there are over 1,600 stores participating across the country.

Independent Bookstore Day is organized by the American Booksellers Association, a national not-for-profit trade organization, that works with booksellers and industry partners to ensure the success and profitability of independently owned book retailers, and to assist in expanding the community of the book.
