County Charter Review Commission to hold meetings in Lake Stevens, Everett, Arlington, and MLT

EVERETT—The 2026 Snohomish County Charter Review Commission will be holding a series of public meetings at different locations throughout the county to solicit feedback on the draft proposals. The Commission anticipates taking action on all proposals by the end of May. The proposed amendments will then be transmitted to the County Council for additional public hearings and then sent to the voters in the November election.

The public meeting schedule is as follows:

  • Wednesday April 8th – 5:30 at The Mill in Lake Stevens, 1808 Main Street, Lake Stevens
  • Wednesday April 22nd – 5:30 at the Snohomish County Campus, 3000 Rockefeller Ave, Everett, Jackson Board room 8th floor
  • Wednesday May 13th –5:30 at Arlington City Hall, 238 N Olympia Ave, Arlington
  • Wednesday May 27th – 5:30 at Mountlake Terrace City Hall, 23204 58th Ave W, Mountlake Terrace

The Charter Review Commission is currently studying proposals related to: lobbying activity of Snohomish County employees, expanding the county council to seven members, making certain county offices nonpartisan, defining the criteria the County Assessor uses to assess property values, delegating additional duties to the County Auditor, creating residency requirements for deputy county executive offices, limiting the number of offices a county elected official or employee can hold, and two proposals related to how the county budgets.
