EVERETT—A 58-year-old woman died Wednesday after she was found unresponsive in her cell at the Snohomish County Jail, the Sheriff’s Office reports.

The inmate was discovered around 7:25 a.m. during routine checks in the jail’s medical housing unit. Corrections staff immediately called a medical emergency and began lifesaving measures but attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful.
The woman had been booked into the jail by the Everett Police Department on April 20 on charges of loitering, possession of a controlled substance and a SODA violation.
Following her death, an unexpected fatality review will be conducted. The review is a clinical assessment and is separate from the death investigation being conducted by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
The woman’s identity, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
