RAP students shine at annual Spring showcase

MARYSVILLE – Earlier today, the Regional Apprenticeship Pathways (RAP) Program hosted its Annual Spring Showcase event at the RAP Center in Marysville. Over 150 community members, labor leaders, industry representatives, and elected officials attended the event to celebrate the program’s success and meet program students and instructors.

The event kicked off with remarks from RAP students, Snohomish County Councilmember Nate Nehring, RAP Director Dr. Anne Carnell, and a graduate of the program. Speakers gave an overview of the RAP Program, recent successes, and personal testimonials about their experience. Following the formal program, attendees participated in student-led tours and project presentations throughout the RAP Center. Attendees engaged directly with students and instructors to learn about the hard work, growth, and technical skills that are hallmarks of the RAP Program.

“I am thrilled with the great turnout at this year’s RAP Spring Showcase,” said Councilmember Nehring. “The RAP Program was built on partnerships and community support. This annual event celebrates those partnerships and allows the community to see firsthand the amazing work happening at the RAP Center.”

During his remarks, Councilmember Nehring announced Washington State Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal as the recipient of the 2026 RAP Champion award. This annual recognition highlights an individual who has gone above and beyond as a supporter of the RAP Program. Superintendent Reykdal has been a strong advocate for the RAP Program and career pathway programs across the state. Since a significant portion of the program’s funding flows through OSPI, Superintendent Reykdal and his team’s support is instrumental in the program’s growth and future.

“I think it was impressive to go again this year to see all the work our young people are doing. It seems like each year their skills and knowledge improve from the year before. It’s pretty incredible,” said County Councilman and Washington State Representative Sam Low (R-39). “It’s good to see this in the 39th district and it’s helping students from all over the county.”

The RAP Program is a state-certified pre-apprenticeship program training the next generation of workforce in the building and construction trades. Started in the 2019-2020 school year, the RAP Program is available to students in the Arlington, Darrington, Everett, Granite Falls, Lake Stevens, Lakewood, Marysville, Stanwood-Camano, and Sultan school districts.
