Seattle Performers’ earns Triple Threat Studio Award at MTC competition

LAKE FOREST PARK—Local children’s theatre group Seattle’s Performers’ Elite Group received MTC Triple Threat Competition’s Triple Threat Studio Award for placing the highest across all entries- vocal, dance, and acting- this past weekend in San Diego Calif.

“We are so honored to be recognized for the comprehensive strength and versatility of the SP ELITE program,” said Founding Artistic Director Sandy Sonko. “Our exceptionally talented young artists can be found in musicals, plays and movies across King and Snohomish county, and these awards are a testament to their dedication to perfecting their craft.” 

The MTC Triple Threat Competition brings together youth theatre groups from around the country to compete in core disciplines of vocal, dance, and acting.  The competition saw  students earn top honors, across all three categories, as well as scholarships.  Isla O’Connor-Lu (17,Seattle) was awarded a prestigious $60,000 scholarship to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), while Violet Poort (13, Seattle) earned a spot at AMDA’s Summer Academy.  In the Large Group Song & Dance category, SP Elite was awarded 1st place for Something Rotten’s “Welcome to the Renaissance” and 4th place for Matilda’s “Revolting Children.”

Lynwood residents include:

  • Teen Division
    • 1st Place Overall Duet: Beatrice Cramer (14, Lynwood) & Farah Halverson (13, Shoreline)
    • 2nd Place Overall Vocal: Meghan Rogers (13, Lynwood)
    • 3rd Place Overall Vocal: Beatrice Cramer (14, Lynwood)

SP Elite performers excelled across the board, receiving 20 individual awards. In the Teen category, Paxton Ream (14, Edmonds) won 1st Place Overall Vocal, while Beatrice Cramer (14, Lynwood) & Farah Halverson (13, Shoreline) were awarded 1st Place Overall Duet.  In the Junior Category, Elliott Aillaud (13, Edmonds) and Lucas Lin (13, Seattle) took 1st Place for their vocal duet. SP Elite is Seattle’s Performers travel troupe.  The group has received numerous awards since its foundation, including: Excellence in Music Award at Junior Theater Festival (JTF) Atlanta and Excellence in Ensemble Work at JTF West in 2026; Ovation Award for Excellence in Ensemble from MTCA in 2025; Excellence in Ensemble in 2024 at JTF Europe; Excellence in Dance at JTF West in 2022;  Outstanding Overall Production honor at JTF Texas in 2021; Excellence in Acting at JTF West in 2020 and 2019. 

To support these award-winning students and ensure more youth artists can have access to performing arts education, Seattle’s Performers appreciates donations to its nonprofit SP Booster Club.  The Boosters’ mission is to advance equitable access to theater education by funding scholarships, subsidizing production and travel expenses, and resourcing high-quality workshops.
