Well, a new tactic is being tried to subvert the will of the people I thought you should know about that affects the whole Rural Area of Snohomish not just our little town of Clearview.

For years, the citizens of Clearview have fought to limit the number of cannabis stores in our area. At one point, we had more than six shops in a four‑mile stretch. Our community rose up and successfully pushed for an 10,000‑foot buffer between cannabis stores across all Snohomish County rural zones. That rule brought us down to the two stores we have today. The whole Rural County benefited from these actions.
Last year, Hangar 420, owned by J&L Properties—moved into the old Clearview Grocery at 180th & Highway 9 in direct violation of the rules our citizens put in place.
When Clearview residents found out, we showed up. The cannabis industry bused in supporters from across the county and packed the room, but Clearview still made its voice heard to the two County Councilmembers who attended. That held Hanger 420 off temporarily—but they came back with a new tactic.
They are now attacking the 10,000‑foot rule itself and using the county process to do it.
Through Planning & Development, they are pushing a proposal to cut the buffer in rural Snohomish County from 10,000 feet down to 5,000 feet—and for Clearview specifically, down to just 2,500 feet.
I’ve read the documents. The first line of the document that stands out is this: “DETERMINATION OF NONSIGNIFICANCE.”
Planning & Development checked every environmental box: no impact to trees, fish, groundwater, surface water, air quality, building codes, or endangered species.
Yes, Every environmental box but one! The People who live here!
What about the families, neighbors and long-time residents of rural Snohomish County?
Are we not part of this “urban zone”?
Do our voices not matter?
Are the people of rural Snohomish County NONSIGNIFICANT?
Attached is the latest Planning & Development report. Please read it if you can.
If you agree that we do not need cannabis shops every 2,500–5,000 feet in our rural communities, we need you at the next meeting:

A full room matters — and this time, it affects every rural community in Snohomish County.
Your presence matters!

I say ‘NO’! Additional marijuana shops are wanted or needed. The laws should NOT be changed.
I don’t see the attachment or this on the agenda for tomorrow’s meeting.
