MUKILTEO — The City of Mukilteo is now accepting applications for the Mukilteo Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) for the 2026-27 school year. Student residents of Mukilteo ages 14-18 with an interest in getting involved in city government are encouraged to apply.
MYAC members will attend monthly committee meetings held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in City Hall. The committee will serve as a voice for Mukilteo’s youth by providing recommendations to the City Council on policies and issues that impact young people in the community. Members will also plan, organize, and participate in drug- and alcohol-free social, cultural, recreational, and educational activities that promote youth engagement and community involvement.
“When youth take part in city government, they don’t just learn how decisions are made; they learn they can be part of making them,” said Mayor Joe Marine. “Giving students a seat at the table today helps build the informed, engaged community leaders of tomorrow.”
MYAC was established in 2009 to foster a more inclusive Mukilteo by encouraging youth engagement and amplifying youth voices in the community. Committee members serve as role models for their peers and act as liaisons between the youth of Mukilteo and the City. MYAC consists of 15 Mukilteo students who are appointed to one-year terms by the mayor and confirmed by the City Council.
Applications are available online at https://mukilteowa.gov/339/Mukilteo-Youth-Advisory-Committee-MYAC. Applicants should note that there are separate applications for returning members and new applicants. New applicants will need two letters of reference to upload with the application. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14.
