Washington Wolfpack falls to Michigan Arsenal 64-36 in high-scoring game

EVERETT [Justin Mark]—Malik Henry threw for 332 yards and nine touchdowns to lead the Michigan Arsenal to a 64-36 victory over the Washington Wolfpack on Saturday night at Angel of the Winds Arena.

Henry completed 21 of 34 passes, with six touchdowns going to Jarius Grissom. Grissom finished with nine receptions for 185 yards and six scores. The win improved Michigan Arsenal to 5-6. Washington Wolfpacks dropped to 5-5.

Michigan Arsenal built an early lead with deuces on consecutive kickoffs after first-quarter touchdowns. Washington Wolfpack committed four turnovers in the first half, which the Arsenal converted into points. The Wolfpack cut the deficit to nine points late in the first half on a 23-yard touchdown pass from Eric Phoenix to Brandon Lombana.

Washington struck first when Phoenix connected with Aakiel Greer for a 7-yard touchdown less than three minutes into the game. Michigan tied it at 7-7 on Henry’s touchdown pass to Grissom and took a 9-7 lead after adding a deuce on the kickoff.

The teams traded scores through much of the first half. Phoenix threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Lombana to pull Washington within 30-21, but Henry answered with a long touchdown pass to Grissom to send Michigan into halftime ahead 37-21.

Michigan pulled away in the second half. Grissom caught a fourth-down pass from Henry to extend the lead to 44-23. Phoenix showed his dual-threat ability with a rushing touchdown that made the score 50-29, but the Arsenal responded with additional scores to close out the 64-36 victory.

Phoenix finished with 299 passing yards and four total touchdowns for Washington. Greer added 99 yards and two touchdowns. Michigan defensive end Chris Fitzgerald recorded three sacks.
