The filings arrive as Washington’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 5.0% in July 2026, up from 4.6% in July 2025. Broader underemployment, measured by the U-6 rate that includes people working part time for economic reasons and those marginally attached to the labor force, reached a four-quarter average of 9.7% through the second quarter of 2026, higher than the 8.7% recorded through the second quarter of 2025.
