EVERETT—The adult man found dead near Forest Park in Everett yesterday morning has been identified by his family as Everett resident Corey Sweeney. He was 35.
A community member located Sweeney’s body yesterday morning around 10:30 a.m. Everett Police officers and Everett Fire were notified and responded to the scene.
Sweeney apparently died of suicide though the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will release their official ruling at a later date.
Typically, the Lynnwood Times does not release the identity of suicide victims but, with permission from Sweeney’s family — who wanted to raise awareness and encourage the public to donate to suicide prevention — we have honored their request.
According to Sweeney’s wife, Angel Woolsey, Sweeney had been missing since Sunday, September 13.
“Words cannot express how devastated I am. Corey was the absolute love of my life and while I’m still mentally and emotionally navigating this, I will soon have to handle the physical aspects and life changes this will bring,” wrote Woolsey. “Every second of every minute, I’ve wished for a different outcome and my heart aches not being able to be with him.”
The couple had been married since September, 2025.
“He was my husband, but also my best friend. He was so many peoples’ best friend,” Woolsey told the Lynnwood Times.
Sweeney’s family encouraged the public to donate to To Write Love On Her Arms, a nonprofit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide.
Woolsey’s co-worker also created a Go Fund Me to raise funds for Sweeney’s family in their time of grief.
The Everett Police Department are continuing their investigation of this incident.

That is something no family or person should have to go through. I wish the family & friends my thoughts and prayers! I lost my husband 3 years ago and it has been the absolute hardest thing trying to get through each of every second of every day. GOD BLESS Y’ALL
