MUKILTEO — Packs for Kids Washington, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving children in the Mukilteo School District experiencing the most severe food insecurity, will hold its Annual Fall Fundraiser on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Rosehill Community Center in Mukilteo. The event is co-sponsored by the City of Mukilteo.
Packs for Kids Washington provides weekend bags of nutritious food to children who may otherwise face a shortage of food when they are away from school. The program focuses on students and families experiencing the greatest levels of food insecurity within the Mukilteo School District.
The annual fundraiser is an important source of funding for Packs for Kids Washington as the organization works to meet growing demand throughout the community.
“Families are facing higher food costs at the same time that more children are experiencing food insecurity,” said Oran Smith-Osterman, Executive Director of Packs for Kids Washington. “That combination makes the work of Packs for Kids Washington more important than ever. Every child deserves to have enough food to eat over the weekend, and the support we receive from our community allows us to continue putting food directly into the hands of children who need it.”
Jim Tinsley, Program Director for Packs for Kids Washington, said the organization is seeing increasing needs throughout the school district while also confronting significant increases in the cost of food.
“We are seeing the needs in our school district continue to grow, while the price of the food we purchase has increased dramatically,” Tinsley said. “That means Packs for Kids Washington needs to raise more money than ever before just to keep up with the demand. This fundraiser gives our community an opportunity to come together and make a direct difference for local children.”
The October 18 fundraiser will bring supporters together for an afternoon of food, a live auction and fundraising in support of Packs for Kids Washington’s weekend food program. Proceeds will help Packs for Kids Washington continue providing food to children throughout the Mukilteo School District.
Packs for Kids Washington encourages community members, local businesses and organizations to attend, participate and help spread awareness of the growing need for food assistance among local children.
