Snohomish County Indivisible to host No Kings rally on Oct. 17 in Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD — Snohomish County Indivisible will host a No Kings rally in Lynnwood on Oct. 17 as part of a nationwide day of action aimed at encouraging voters to participate in the November midterm elections.

The citizen-based group plans to hold its fourth No Kings event at Cedar Valley Community School, with speakers, music, voter-engagement activities and a march planned as part of the afternoon program.

The event is part of the national “No Kings: Vote Early” day of action. Organizers of the national effort describe the day as a nonpartisan voter-participation campaign intended to encourage eligible voters to make a plan to vote early and understand their voting options.

The No Kings coalition’s messaging centers on the idea that political power belongs to voters and that elected officials are accountable to the public. The national organization says the Oct. 17 events are intended to shift the focus of the movement toward voter participation ahead of the midterm elections.

“Our democracy works when people participate,” said Rozann Grunig, a member of the leadership team of South Snohomish County Indivisible. “Voting early gives people the opportunity to make a plan, cast their ballots, and ensure their voices are heard.”

Speakers, music and a march

The Lynnwood event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Cedar Valley Community School, 19200 56th Ave. W.

Speakers are scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by a march and sign-waving activity at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Organizers say attendees can expect community information tables, voter-engagement activities, food trucks, signs and speakers. The event is planned to take place rain or shine.

Limited parking will be available at the school, with ADA parking and seating provided.

The event is being organized by South Snohomish County Indivisible and community partners and is open to the public. Registration is available through the group’s event page. Event registration

Part of a national day of action

The Lynnwood gathering will be one of numerous No Kings-related events scheduled around the country on Oct. 17.

The national No Kings organization describes the October event as a continuation of demonstrations that have taken place over the past year, but with a particular emphasis on voting ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Its website currently lists Oct. 17 as a “Nationwide Day of Action” and describes the theme as “No Kings: Vote Early.”

Other Washington communities are also planning events that day. An event listed for Everett, for example, calls for a concert, community-engagement tables and a sign-waving rally at Snohomish County Campus Plaza. Events are also scheduled in communities including Olympia and Burlington.

The national coalition says its No Kings events are nonviolent and asks participants to act lawfully and seek to de-escalate confrontations with people who disagree with their views.

For South Snohomish County Indivisible, the Lynnwood event represents the group’s fourth No Kings gathering and comes less than three weeks before Election Day.

Encouraging voters to participate

Rather than focusing solely on protest, organizers say the Oct. 17 event is intended to encourage residents to take concrete steps toward participating in the election.

That includes voting early, helping friends and neighbors understand their voting options and directing voters toward accurate election information from official sources.

The event comes as other Indivisible chapters across Washington prepare similar voter-participation events. Seattle Indivisible has described Oct. 17 as an opportunity to translate previous No Kings mobilizations into increased voter participation ahead of the midterms.

South Snohomish County Indivisible describes itself as a progressive, nonpartisan, pro-democracy citizen organization based in Snohomish County. The group organizes rallies, sign-waving events, voter-registration activities, monthly meetings and community outreach.
