The premier news source for Snohomish County

Robert “Chili” Hicks is running for LD10 Position 1 against the incumbent, Clyde Shavers, a Democrat

When Clyde Shavers was elected to the House in November 2022, he faced serious allegations of stolen valor.  Shavers claimed to be a submarine officer in the US Navy.  Even his dad said he never stepped foot on a submarine.  The Naval Academy Honor Code states “They do not lie.  They do not cheat.  They do not steal.”  As a result of the falsehoods, The Everett Herald withdrew its endorsement during the 2022 campaign.  How can we trust our representative when he can’t even tell the truth about his past?

Shavers also says he is a moderate independent and claims to support the family.  But when you look at his voting record, he voted YES on the sweeping modifications that stripped away our Parents’ Bill of Rights, replacing a 10-day records transparency guarantee with a 45-day bureaucratic wall. He backed the laws that keep parents in the dark about their children’s school-based medical services. He’s counting on voters not looking into his voting record or remembering he betrayed us.

Chili says his campaign is about restoring trust, reducing the burden on families and small businesses, and making government work for the people again.  “Families across District 10 are being squeezed by rising costs, unchecked regulations, and a political class that seems more focused on itself than on solving real problems. I’m running to change that — and to put Washington’s citizens back at the center of our decision-making.”

VOTE!  VOTE!  VOTE!
