MUKILTEO — The Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce is asking residents to nominate people and businesses who give back to the community for its annual Community Awards, with winners to be recognized at the Chamber’s November breakfast, according to the Chamber’s Oct. 5 newsletter.
Nominations are open in five categories: Large Business, Small Business, New Business, Non-Profit and Individual Community Member. The Chamber said the awards celebrate “the people and businesses that make Mukilteo the greatest place to live, work and play.” A nomination form is linked in the newsletter.
The awards call leads a busy stretch on the Chamber’s calendar that runs from mid-October through mid-December.
The October Chamber breakfast+ is set for 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at Tapped Mukilteo. The guest speaker is Torey Pellegrini, a CFA charterholder with TLC Advisory. The Chamber said Pellegrini has more than a decade of experience in the investment industry, working with financial advisors, banks and consulting firms. He is expected to share insights on financial planning, current market conditions and strategies for making informed financial decisions, with practical takeaways for both individuals and businesses. The breakfast is open to Chamber members and first-time visitors, and an RSVP is requested.

A week later, the Chamber’s Business After Hours will take on an Oktoberfest theme. It runs from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at Harbour Pointe Senior Living, 10200 Harbour Place, behind the Walgreens and Starbucks. Guests can tour the facility and meet its staff.

Halloween events fill out the rest of the month. The city’s free, kid-friendly Boo Bash runs from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Rosehill Community Center, with trick-or-treating, vendor booths, children’s activities, entertainment and food trucks. Organizers are looking for volunteers to help with setup, check-in and booths, and the newsletter said several vendor spaces were still available for local businesses.

Mukilteo Memory Care, 4686 Pointes Drive, will host a Trunk or Treat from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, which the Chamber pitched as a way for local businesses to gain visibility.
In November, the Mukilteo Schools Foundation will present Rock Against Hunger, a battle of the bands that raises money to fight food insecurity among students in the Mukilteo School District. The event begins at 6 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Kamiak High School Performing Arts Center, 10801 Harbour Pointe Blvd. The winning band earns $1,000, audience members can vote for a fan favorite, and Roger Fisher, founding guitarist of Heart and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, is scheduled to make a guest appearance.
The season wraps up with the Chamber’s annual Ugly Sweater Holiday Party from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at Nic’s Barbershop, 4704 Pointes Drive, Suite 105. The party is free, but attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food to donate to the Mukilteo Food Bank or the YMCA Food Pantry.

The newsletter also welcomed back returning member Brand Builder Media, which produces Discover Mukilteo, a showcase of local businesses and things to do around town. The firm offers marketing, advertising, public relations and creative content services.
The Chamber office is now open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays, a schedule that began Sept. 1. Inquiries can be directed to Aubrey at aubrey@mukilteochamber.org or 425-347-1456.
