Snohomish County accepting applications for the North Central (Mukilteo) Ferry Advisory Committee

The Committee offers a chance to be actively engaged with the new multi-modal ferry terminal

Mukilteo, Wash., November 30, 2020 – Snohomish County is now accepting applications to serve on the North Central (Mukilteo) Ferry Advisory Committee. Members are appointed to a four-year term and will provide local perspectives and recommendations to the Washington State Department of Transportation. A nominee will be approved by the Snohomish County Council by December 21 to begin their term on January 1, 2021.

“Serving on a board and commission is a great way to be civically engaged in local government,” said Snohomish County Councilmember Megan Dunn, whose district includes Mukilteo. “Serving on the North Central Ferry Advisory Committee will be a unique opportunity as members of this committee will be able to be actively engaged with the new multi-modal ferry terminal set to open in December.”

“We want to make sure our community has input into decision-making that impacts us,” said Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers. “I urge those from Mukilteo who use Washington State Ferries and care about their service in Snohomish County to get involved with the process and help plan for our future needs.”

The Mukilteo Multi-Modal Terminal is slated to open on Tuesday, December 29, just to the north of the current terminal, which is set to be demolished in 2021. The new terminal will meet seismic standards, address traffic congestion, safety concerns, and has been built LEED Silver certified.

Advisory Committee Members will meet quarterly to discuss any issues or logistics regarding the new terminal and surrounding area, and then provide feedback to WSDOT staff. Applicants should have an active interest in issues pertaining to ferry service, use the ferry themselves, or have a business that is impacted by the ferry terminal or ferry schedules. Applicants should also live near the Mukilteo Ferry Terminal. Applications can be submitted online (https://snohomishcountywa.gov/OnlineBCBAForm) or to receive a paper application, please call 425-388-3699.

All applications must be received by Monday, December 7, 2020.
