Edmonds-Kingston ferry dock accident

Update: 2:45 p.m. Dec. 28 – The route is back in service.

Update: 1:36 p.m. Dec. 28 – The logs have been removed. A safety inspection of the terminal structures is needed before vehicles will be allowed off #Spokane and service on the #Kingston route can resume.

Update: 1:11 p.m. Dec. 28 – Clean up has begun aboard #Spokane, stuck at #Edmonds terminal.

Edmonds, Wash., December 28, 2020 – The Edmonds-Kingston ferry dock is out of service after a logging truck lost its load on the Edmonds-Kingston ferry dock Monday morning around 11 a.m.

The ferry is at the dock and the route is out of service until further notice. There are no reports of injuries.

The situation is under control and equipment to remove the logs are in route. About 100 vehicles remain on board. Drivers are being asked to stay with their vehicle. Passengers can disembark if they choose via overhead passenger walkway.

According to Washington State Ferries, alternate routes for essential cross-Sound travel include #Seattle/#Bainbridge or #Seattle/#Bremerton routes, or to drive around.
