Snohomish County, Wash. (January 4, 2021) – Today, Nate Nehring, announced that he will seek re-election to the Snohomish County Council for District 1. Arlington, Darrington, Granite Falls, Marysville, Stanwood, and unincorporated North Snohomish County comprise District 1.
“It has been an honor to serve the residents of North Snohomish County on the County Council for the last four years”, Nehring said. “During my first term, I have prioritized balanced budgets with no tax increases, supporting public safety, and growing jobs in Snohomish County. I look forward to the opportunity to continue serving the citizens of District 1 for the next four years.”
Nehring has served as District 1 representative on the Snohomish County Council since 2017 and recently finished a term as Snohomish County Council Chairman. He was the first member of a minority party to be elected Chairman of the Council and currently has over 150+ early endorsements from local leaders on both sides of the aisle.
Nehring led the effort to ban heroin injection sites from Snohomish County and also worked with the cities of Arlington and Marysville along with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and Human Services Department to establish the North County law enforcement-embedded social worker program. He also partnered with local school districts, businesses, and labor organizations to develop the Regional Apprenticeship Pathways (RAP) Program to serve local students in North Snohomish County by providing them with a career pathway into the skilled trades.
Prior to public office, Nehring was a middle school science teacher and vice chairman of the Stanwood Planning Commission. Nehring and his wife Savannah are both lifelong residents of North Snohomish County and currently reside in Arlington, where they are raising their two young children, Kennedy and James.
