Lake Stevens, Wash., February 22, 2021 – A 20-year old woman drowned in Lake Stevens Saturday, February 20, according to the Lake Stevens Police Department.
At approximately 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, Lake Stevens resident Anna Marie Lopez got out of a vehicle off of North Lakeshore Drive and ran down a dock before jumping into Lake Stevens, said Commander Jeff Beazizo.
Witnesses and speculation indicate that Lopez had been drinking and was highly intoxicated at the time, Cmdr. Beazizo told the Lynnwood Times. Within 30 to 60 days a medical examiner’s report will conclude what was in the victim’s system at the time of death.
An independent witness in the parking lot told police that three of Lopez’s friends were in the vehicle when the incident occurred.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded and attempted CPR for 50 minutes.
