Off-Duty City Employee Involved in Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Collision

City of Lynnwood Press Release

Lynnwood, Wash. – This morning, Lynnwood officials were notified that a Lynnwood city employee had been arrested for an alleged DUI and pedestrian hit and run incident that occurred the evening of April 8, 2020 in unincorporated Lynnwood. The employee was off-duty but was driving a City of Lynnwood vehicle. The vehicle usage occurred hours after the employee’s shift had ended. This individual was a probationary employee of the Public Works Department, employed since December 2019. Upon learning of the incident, the City of Lynnwood immediately terminated employment with this individual.

“Our hearts ache for the victim of this tragic incident,” stated Mayor Nicola Smith. “We continue to hold her in our thoughts and prayers.”

Questions regarding the investigation should be directed to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
