It is graduation season and Cascade Warbirds is proud to announce that Alex Edwin Jonson graduated May 8, 2021, Magna Cum Laude from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), and accompanied it with a fully rated Commercial Pilot License.
Alex was awarded a Cascade Warbirds Private Pilot Ground School Scholarship in 2015 while a sophomore at Issaquah High School before heading to ERAU. He said then his goal was just to become a pilot, whether military, commercial, or private didn’t matter – he just wanted to fly. He coerced his parents into joining Cascade Warbirds just so he could volunteer to be around their airplanes.
Alex earned his Private Pilot License and completed his first ever 4.0 semester in 2019 at Embry-Riddle in Arizona. He made the Dean’s List every term and in addition earned the following Aeronautical Ratings:
– Airplane Single Engine Land
– Instrument Airplane
Alex is currently at Embry-Riddle’s Prescott, AZ campus finishing his multi-engine commercial rating.
Cascade Warbirds salutes this amazing accomplishment which began with an application to its Private Pilot Ground School Scholarship Program. They note that a highly successful fund raising earlier this year assures that the Program will continue in 2022. Announcements for that opportunity will be made late this year.
