Community Transit board meeting and public hearing, August 5

Snohomish County, Wash. – The Community Transit Board of Directors’ monthly board meeting will be at 3 p.m, Thursday, August 5. A public hearing will be held on the 2021-2026 Transit Development Plan (TDP).

The regular meeting will take place as a virtual meeting due to ongoing COVID-19 precautions. Meeting materials, information on how to watch or listen to the meeting, and how to sign up to provide public comment, can be found at this link: https://bit.ly/CTBdAgendaAug2021.

If you wish to comment during the TDP public hearing please join using the Zoom meeting link and fill out the Sign Up Form. Advance sign-up is not required but is requested by 12 p.m. the day of the meeting. Written comments may be sent to planupdate@commtrans.org by August 5.

The TDP is a state-mandated report that forecasts revenue and service levels for the next six years and is updated every year. Last year’s TDP outlined “slow recovery” and “rapid recovery” revenue scenarios based on economic uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s plan forecasts revenue that exceeds the “rapid recovery” scenario, laying the groundwork for a 30% increase in transit service by 2026.

The board holds regular meetings on the first Thursday of each month.

Community Transit is responsible for providing bus and paratransit service, vanpool and alternative commute options in Snohomish County. The agency is building a network of Swift bus rapid transit lines with Swift Blue Line along Highway 99, the Swift Green Line between Canyon Park/Bothell and Boeing/Paine Field, and the new Swift Orange Line coming to Mill Creek and Lynnwood in 2024.
