EVERETT, Wash., January 14, 2022 – Today, Everett Police arrested Christian Sayre, 35, bar owner of the Anchor Pub in Everett, on 10 counts of rape in the second degree. Bail is set at $1 million. Criminal charges in Oregon are pending.
Sayre was originally arrested back in October 2021 for several sexual assaults that are alleged to have occurred over the past several years. Both male and female victims reported going to the Anchor Pub, having a few drinks, and then blacking out. Upon waking up, the victims believed they had been sexually assaulted.
Since the original arrest, the owner was released on bail while awaiting charges to be filed. Everett Police detectives have continued to work the case and up 20 victims in Washington state alone, both men and women, have come forward with reports of similar events.
In November 2021, Special Assault Unit detectives served a search warrant on the suspect’s house and the Anchor Pub. The search recovered evidence that linked the owner to numerous other sexual assaults both in Everett and in Washington County, Oregon. Based on information gathered through this ongoing investigation, the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office charged the owner with 10 counts of rape in the second degree and issued a warrant for his arrest.
Everett Police had evidence for an additional nine counts of sex crimes, but those were not able to be charged due to the statute of limitations expiring or some cases needing additional information.
Everett police detectives subsequently arrested and booked the Sayre into Snohomish County Jail.
Detectives continue investigating reports of sexual assaults against the Christian Sayre and believe there may be other male and female victims both here in Everett and in Washington County, Oregon. Detectives are also looking into reports of a second male suspect.
