16-year-old Edmonds-Woodway High School student arrested for credible gun-violence threat

EDMONDS, Wash., June 6, 2022 – Early this morning, Edmonds Police officers arrested a 16-year-old Edmonds -Woodway High School student for credible threats of violence against the high school. The suspect was booked into juvenile jail for Felony Harassment. Edmonds police worked with the Edmonds School District as incident unfolded.
A realistic-looking BB gun was recovered as well as additional evidence. Information from concerned families is what brought this threat to the police. The Edmonds police are providing an additional presence on the school campus this morning.

Almost two years ago on June 23, 2020, the Edmonds School Board voted unanimously 5-0 to discontinue the Edmonds School District’s (ESD) Schools Resource Officer (SRO) Program in Edmonds-Woodway, Meadowdale, and Mountlake Terrace high schools, ending the districts relationship with the Edmonds, Lynnwood, and Mountlake Terrace police departments, and effectively removing all law enforcement from school campuses.
