Mukilteo, Wash., May 27, 2023—The City of Mukilteo is seeking applicants to fill one vacancy on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission. The remainder of the vacant term will end on December 31, 2023.
MMC Chapter 2.48 of Ordinance No. 1444 was passed by City Council on December 14, 2020, which established a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Commission. This Commission provides information, education, and communication that facilitates understanding of diversity and celebrates and respects individual differences. The Commission will make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council regarding diversity opportunities to promote programs and provide guidance to assure an accessible, safe, welcoming, and inclusive government and community. The Commission will also recommend effective strategies for public engagement, removing barriers, and increasing access to city services for our city’s diverse population, as well as support, challenge, and guide government and the community to eliminate and prevent all forms of discrimination and racism.
There is an online application for interested applicants. Be sure to select “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission” from the pull-down list of the City’s boards and commissions. While the City accepts applications for boards and commissions throughout the year, interested applicants for this particular vacancy are encouraged to apply by Wednesday, June 14, at 5 PM. Regular DEI Commission meetings occur on the fourth Wednesday of each month beginning at 5:30 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, 11930 Cyrus Way.
