LYNNWOOD, Wash., July 8, 2023—Alan Rubio kicked off his campaign for Alderwood Water & Wastewater District at Wilcox Park on Saturday, July 8.
“This is more for the community than it is for me,” Rubio told supporters at his Meet & Greet event. “For those that are complaining about the water price and their water bill going up, I am going to watch that. I am going to make sure that we are not paying for someone’s yacht or luxury vacation. I want to make sure we are getting a fair competitive price for our services. That’s going to be my main goals along with water quality.”
From an immigrant family, Rubio moved into Snohomish County more than 12 years ago. He is in the construction industry as a shift supervisor for the management team. Rubio also serves as the Vice-President for the Dominican Association of Washington, a non-profit organization of volunteers committed to social services.
As a husband and father of two children, he wants to ensure safe healthy drinking water for Alderwood Water District residents, according to his website.
“I am just so excited to see more young people running for office,” Parks Commissioner Nick Coelho, who is running for Lynnwood City Council, told the Lynnwood Times why he supports Rubio. “All too often these positions get monopolized by an older demographic and we just need newer ideas grounded in the realities of right now.”
