Marysville invites all to the annual Touch-A-Truck event on September 9

MARYSVILLE, Wash., August 20, 2023—Explore trucks and interact with vehicles at the annual Touch-A-Truck event on Saturday, September 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Totem Middle School’s Asbery Field, 1605 7th Street NE in Marysville. Horns and sirens will be active from 10 a.m. to noon, with a quiet hour from noon to 1 p.m.

This community-favorite event invites kids to sit in the driver’s seat of Marysville’s largest heavy-duty rigs. Children of all ages have a hands-on chance to honk horns, set off sirens and kick the tires on a variety of big rigs. Vehicles include a dump truck, vactor truck, police vehicles, street sweeper, fire engines, garbage trucks, a heavy expanded mobility tactical truck and many more.

Donations gratefully accepted to Marysville Community Food Bank. Marysville Sunrise Rotary will be selling food concessions. The City of Marysville would like to thank event sponsors: Community Transit, Abbey Van Dam and BECU.

“We are excited to partner with so many different community organizations,” said Sam Giffin, community events coordinator. “Several of our local non-profits are attending along with vehicles from throughout Snohomish County.”

New this year: Help name the new hydro excavator!

This year the city has added a new feature: help name our newest big rig! Top name suggestions collected in a contest currently underway will be displayed for public vote next to the hydro excavator at Touch-A-Truck. Those who then submit the final name chosen will be invited to a future photo event with city leaders.

To enter the contest, pick up a coloring page at the Community Center (1015 State Ave.) or City Hall (501 Delta Ave.) and return it to the same location, or download and print one at https://www.marysvillewa.gov/HydroExcavatorContest, then email to kbryant@marysvillewa.gov. Deadline is Aug. 31.
