MUKILTEO—The City of Mukilteo announced on Tuesday the transition of its parking programs to a digital platform which include resident passes for the waterfront, residential parking in Old Town, and leasing monthly commuter parking near the ferry. Residents can now apply for and manage their and their guests’ parking permits through the City’s new user-friendly online portal.
The move to online permitting will allow the Mukilteo Police Department to scan license plates instead of exiting patrol vehicles to verify physical passes on rear-view mirrors. This will provide a more efficient and consistent enforcement.
Notably, the resident waterfront parking passes—the ones that allow Mukilteo residents to park free in the paid parking at Lighthouse Park—are the most utilized in Mukilteo. To acquire this parking pass, visit the Mukilteo Parking Permit Portal and select “Resident Waterfront” in the dropdown under “Apply for a New Permit.” Follow this similar process for any other residential and guest permit within the City limits. Approved residential applications will receive an email within 5 days notifying that the permit is active. Guest passes will remain active for 24 hours.
Refer to this guide for easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions. Residents will need a valid email address and must subscribe prior using the system.
For those in need of in-person assistance, walk-in tech support will be available at Mukilteo City Hall each Wednesday in January from 8-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Residents need their driver’s license and vehicle registration for each vehicle to register.
The goal is for all pass holders to be registered in the new system by the end of January, the Mukilteo Police Department will continue to recognize physical passes until April in all zones, allowing residents time to adjust to the new digital platform.
Mukilteo residents will still park free at Lighthouse Park with a digital Resident Waterfront parking pass which are valid for a one-year period. Non-residents will still need to purchase a parking pass at one of the many meters at Lighthouse Park—$3.00/hour fee up to 4-hour increments.
For Front Street, Park Avenue and 1st Street, paid parking hours are 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Parking is free outside those hours, but still limited to 4 hours and no overnight parking.
Some neighborhoods (e.g., Old Town, Westridge, or Whidbey Lane) have zone restrictions that limit on-street parking duration, but allow Mukilteo residents of those neighborhoods to apply for residential and guest passes. Refer to our Updated Maps for restricted zones where such passes apply and our parking permit application Guide for the maximum number of resident and guest passes allowed per residence.
