EVERETT—A 36-year-old man from Lake Stevens was found unresponsive inside his cell at the Snohomish County Jail around 11 a.m. on Monday, January 15.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, during a routine check, a corrections deputy discovered the inmate unresponsive inside of his cell. Corrections staff immediately called a medical emergency and began lifesaving measures. Attempts to resuscitate the inmate were unsuccessful.
The 36-year-old inmate was booked into the Snohomish County Jail by the Lynnwood Police Department on August 17, 2023. The inmate was being held on $595,000 bail for a slew of charges:
- Reckless driving
- Second-degree assault
- Residential burglary
- Possession of a stolen vehicle
- Vehicle theft tools
- Two counts of second-degree burglary
- Theft of a motor vehicle
The charge of unlawful possession of a firearm in the first degree was dismissed.
A morbidity review is being conducted. This is a review of the death from a clinical standpoint and is independent of the death investigation, which is being conducted by the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit. Detectives are also conducting a full investigation including looking for contraband.
The identity of the inmate, as well as cause and manner of death, will be determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
