Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin set to deliver state of the city March 21

Everett, Wash., March 12, 2024—Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin will deliver her annual State of the City address next Thursday, March 21, at the at the Everett Mall located at 1402 SE Everett Mall Way. Franklin’s address will be the centerpiece at the 2024 State of the City event, where she will highlight ongoing initiatives and outline her vision for the city for the year.

As mayor, Franklin’s top priorities are violence prevention, behavioral health and ensuring the City’s ongoing financial wellbeing and the success of all of Everett’s businesses. Franklin is committed to open, transparent government, making sure the City’s workforce and volunteers are reflective of Everett’s diverse community, increasing public safety and finding appropriate and effective ways to respond to street-level issues and addiction. 

“This past year was filled with significant milestones for Everett including impressive growth in our industries, expansive development occurring citywide, and progress being made addressing our communities’ greatest challenges,” says Mayor Franklin. “I’m excited to unveil our vision and strategies for continuing Everett’s progress and maximizing the opportunities on our horizon.” 

The State of the City also celebrates Everett Mall’s 50th anniversary and revitalization projects underway. A showcase of local and regional businesses will provide guests the opportunity to network with business and community leaders.  

“The revitalization project at the Everett Mall is a microcosm of the progress being made across the city,” says Wendy Poischbeg, Interim President & CEO of Economic Alliance Snohomish County. “This project mirrors the city’s broader transformation — focusing on economic resilience, community engagement, and sustainable development. The State of Everett event highlights the collaborative spirit and forward-thinking that are driving Everett towards a promising and inclusive future.” 

The event will also feature a bespoke menu of traditional mall fare with an upscale twist from Chef Dane Catering & Delivery, and a no-host bar featuring Washington wines and beer from Sound 2 Summit Craft Brewery.  

Everett Music Initiative will provide the soundtrack to the event, inspired by the era of the Everett Mall’s inception. In addition, a raffle with prizes — including a pair of roundtrip tickets courtesy of Alaska Airlines. 

The State of the City will occur from 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and is presented by The Boeing Company and Mortenson, in partnership with Alaska Airlines, North Sound Media, Port of Everett, and LISC Puget Sound.
