Juvenile in stolen vehicle causes three-car collision on HWY 99

LYNNWOOD—A juvenile operating a stolen vehicle sped down Highway 99 and caused a three-car collision near 176th Street around 2:30 p.m., Thursday, March 28. The suspect, a 16-year-old male from West Richland, has been booked into Denney Juvenile Detention Center.

The suspect had several outstanding felony warrants at the time of his arrest for attempted assault in the second degree, eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle, and residential burglary. He now faces several new charges from the incident Thursday.

Lynnwood Police Officers noticed the stolen vehicle around 2:08 p.m. around the 17200 block of Highway 99. The 16-year-old driver noticed the officers and sped down Highway 99. The Officers did not engage in a pursuit nor operate their emergency vehicles. Shortly after, the driver caused a three-car collision but fortunately there were no injuries.

The suspect fled the vehicle after the collision on foot and officers chased, capturing him on the 17200 block of Highway 99.

Highway 99 and 176th Street was subsequently closed to the public for about an hour but has since reopened.

The juvenile was evaluated to a nearby hospital before booking.
