1-year-old Lynnwood fatally struck by vehicle

LYNNWOOD—Tragedy struck a Lynnwood family on Thursday after their 1-year-old child was involved in a fatal collision.

Around 7 p.m. Thursday, May 30, Sheriff’s Office deputies and Collision Investigation Unit (CIU) detectives responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian fatal collision in the 13900 block of Beverly Park Road. When deputies arrived, aid was on scene with the victim, a 1-year-old child, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, detectives discovered the 1-year-old child was playing in the front yard of the Lynnwood residence with two other siblings and their parent. A roommate, a 45-year-old man, arrived home to the residence and when he pulled into the driveway, he struck the child. The 45-year-old suspect was taken into custody for vehicular homicide. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail. A blood search warrant was applied for and administered.

CIU detectives are still investigating the crash but believe drugs were a contributing factor.

Positive identification of the decedent, as well as cause and manner of death, will be determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner.
