Sno-Isle Libraries acquires property for the new Mariner Library

EVERETT—Sno-Isle Libraries has acquired property for the joint development of the future Mariner Community Campus (MCC) project, bringing together a public library and mixed income housing. Sno-Isle Libraries purchased the property located at the northeast corner of 4th Ave W and 128th St SW for the future state-of-the-art library building.

This marks a significant milestone in Sno-Isle Libraries’ ongoing commitment to enhance community access to essential community resources, learning, and community connection.

“We are investing in our community and future generations with this monumental project, this truly is an investment in learning and access to opportunities. This development is a testament to the value of collaboration and aligning our resources with our community’s interest and lived experiences to create a third place for people to gather,” said Sno-Isle Libraries Executive Director Lois Langer Thompson.

The MCC is an ongoing collaboration between many partners that aims to create a community gathering space. In May 2023, Sno-Isle Libraries and Everett Housing Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore efforts on a joint development for MCC project. The vision for the MCC started with State Senator Marko Liias to provide public services in this unique neighborhood of Snohomish County serving around 30,000 people.

“The Mariner neighborhood is a special place, and the Mariner Library is the heart of the community. The community came together to lead a process to identify community needs and Sno-Isle Libraries and Everett Housing Authority are making it happen. With Sound Transit coming to Mariner, this campus will be the place to access public services and create a gathering space for the community. I am honored to support this legacy community project,” said Senator Marko Liias.

The newly acquired property spans 0.8 acres and provides ample space to serve as a vibrant hub for learning, creativity, and community engagement. Sno-Isle Libraries purchased the property for $4.5 million. The project has received $4,153,940 to date in state public grants.

A property feasibility study and gathering community input will be the next steps for the project with construction anticipated to begin in 2026. Sno-Isle Libraries will continue to provide library services from the current Mariner Library located at 520 128th St SW Suites A9 A10.

The Mariner Community Campus will be the heart of this vibrant neighborhood. Through community support and partnerships, Sno-Isle Libraries is transforming a vision into reality.
