WA Democratic National Delegates endorse Harris for 47th President

SEATTLE—The Washington State Delegation to the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, July 24, voted overwhelmingly to endorse the historic campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris for the 47th President of the United States. Washington State National Delegates and Alternates voted 79-17, further adding to the majority of national delegates who have already endorsed VP Harris’ campaign for President.

In light of Thursday’s vote, Shasti Conrad, Chair of the Washington State Democrats, released the following statement.

Shasti Conrad

“As the first South Asian woman to lead a State Party organization for any major party and as our delegation chair, I am beyond thrilled to announce that the Washington State Delegation has voted overwhelmingly to support the first woman of color to represent a major party in a presidential election. With Harris as our nominee, we will protect our fundamental rights and freedoms and defeat Donald Trump’s and MAGA’s extremist Project 2025 agenda.

“As a party, we will shield Vice President Harris from the racism and misogyny already being hurled her way while also amplifying her vision for a democratic and prosperous future.

“Democrats are working on behalf of all Americans to lower the cost of living for families, expand healthcare and cap costs for seniors, restore abortion rights throughout the nation, and protect the clean air and water that we all rely on to thrive.”
