BREAKING: Trump safe after second assassination attempt, suspect detained

WEST PALM BEACH, FLMartin County Sheriff’s Office has detained Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, of North Carolina, in relation to a second assassination attempt on Republican Presidential nominee and 45th President of the United States, Donald J Trump, that occurred, Sunday, September 15, around 2 p.m. EST at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

“Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER! I will always love you for supporting me,” Trump stated in an email to donors.

Steven Cheung, Trump Campaign Communications Director, shared in a statement that former President Trump is” safe following gunshots in his vicinity.”

“Kelly and I are departing Mar-a-Lago, where we just spent a few hours with President Trump and are thanking God for protecting him today—once again,” House Speaker Mike Johnson posted to X. “No leader in American history has endured more attacks and remained so strong and resilient. He [Trump] is unstoppable.”

According to witness statements to CNN, Routh was pointing a rifle where Trump was located on the golf course. U.S. Secret Service agents engaged the suspect, firing multiple shots. The suspect fled on foot then in a vehicle. Trump was moving between holes five and six on the golf course when the incident occurred.

Law enforcement recovered a backpack, go-pro camera and a semi-automatic AK-47 rifle.

The Secret Service, in conjunction with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating the incident. The FBI has taken the lead on the investigation. This is the second assassination attempt just two months and two days after his Butler assassination attempt.

Democratic Presidential nominee and Vice President of the United States, Kamal Harris released the flowing statement to X regarding the second assassination attempt: “I have been briefed on reports of gunshots fired near former President Trump and his property in Florida, and I am glad he is safe. Violence has no place in America.”

What we know about the alleged shooter

The alleged shooter, Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, is a pro-Ukranian activist and head of the International Volunteer Center in Ukraine which is a private organization that helps foreigners to assist the war effort against Russia by connecting them military units and aid groups.

Ryan Wesley Routh, the alleged shooter in the recent Trump golf course incident, reportedly has an extensive criminal history, including felony weapons charges and multiple misdemeanors.

Social Media platforms Facebook and X suspend Routh’s account.

The would-be assassin traveled to Washington, D.C. and Ukraine to support volunteer soldiers.

Voting records show that Routh voted in the Democratic Primary in March of 2024 in North Carolina. He had a home in Hawaii.

  2. So, was this another attempt on the former president’s life?

    Or was it just people shooting in the area and he happened to be close to it? I’m reading different reports in multiple places, and well…to be fair?

    I can’t tell which one is happening here.
