Governor-elect Ferguson appoints KD Chapman-See to lead Budget Office

OLYMPIAโ€”Governor-elect Bob Ferguson on Thursday, November 21, appointed the final position of his executive leadership team by naming K.D. Chapman-See as Director of the Office of Financial Management.

โ€œK.D. brings tremendous talent and expertise to this critical position in state government,โ€ Ferguson said. โ€œShe understands the budget challenges facing the state, and I look forward to working with her to deliver efficient, effective government. As we grow an economy that works for everyone, K.D.โ€™s leadership will be critical.โ€

Chapman-See brings experience developing and advancing state budgets and policy in leadership roles in both the executive and legislative branches. This includes more than a decade with the Washington State House of Representatives where she served as Policy Director and a senior analyst for the state operating budget and tax policy for the House Democratic Caucus. She currently leads the Office of Financial Managementโ€™s external government relations as Legislative Affairs Liaison. She attended the University of Chicago and earned a bachelorโ€™s degree in anthropology. 

Ferguson expressed his gratitude to Pat Sullivan, the outgoing state budget leader.

โ€œI am deeply grateful to Pat Sullivan for his leadership during this challenging time as he develops Governor Insleeโ€™s final budget,โ€ Ferguson said. โ€œHe is an outstanding public servant who puts the needs of Washingtonians first.โ€

Chapman-Seeโ€™s appointment is effective January 15, 2025.
