SAR recovers body of missing camper near Beckler River  

SNOHOMISH COUNTY – At 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8th, the Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (SAR) unit, along with the volunteer SAR Swiftwater Rescue Team, recovered the body of a 15-year-old male who had wandered away from his group of peers around 3 a.m. on Saturday.

The group had been camping above the snowline near the Beckler River, and the young man was reportedly intoxicated at the time.

Multiple SAR volunteer teams, including ground teams, K9 units, Everett Mountain Rescue, and the Helicopter Rescue Team (HRT), assisted in the extensive search. The victim’s body was located and recovered from the Beckler River.

Positive identification of the decedent, as well as cause and manner of death, will come from the Snohomish County Medical Examiner.
