MUKILTEO—A dead body was found on a trail near Olympic View Middle School in Mukilteo this morning. Mukilteo Police do not believe there is any threat to the public at this time.
Officers working with the Mukilteo Police responded to multiple calls of an individual with possible injuries on the 7300 Block of 48th Avenue West around 7 a.m. the morning of Thursday, June 5. When they arrived, they found a deceased subject.
Due to the nature of the subject’s injuries the Mukilteo PD were unable to release any information on the deceased’s identity, description, or even types of injuries.
Nathan Fabia, Public Information Officer for the Department, informed the Lynnwood Times that the incident took place at the end of a private cul-de-sac, right before a trail leading to the Olympic View Middle School football field — towards the back of the school.
In a letter sent to families who have students in the Mukilteo School District, Diane Bradford, Director of Communications and Public Affairs for the District, assured parents that the deceased was not a “middle school aged person.”
“Counselors from Olympic View have been working with students who may have been impacted by this incident. Our hearts go out to the victim and their loved ones,” Bradford wrote.
The area was temporarily closed to the public while Mukilteo Police investigated. Students, and parents of students, were urged to find an alternat route to school. It has since reopened. The deceased has been transported to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Support 7 and various counselors are currently on scene.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates as more information becomes available.
